When Yumei was in her middle school, she was bullied. Before, she was really introverted and timid. She was always the "last pick" of her classmates and they treated her harshly. Even though her classmates doesn't treat her well, she still does her best to be nice to them. She became a push-over and her classmates took advantage of her kindness. Yumei's parents noticed the change that happened to their daughter. They became concerned and took extra care of Yumei. With her parents spoiling her when she was younger, she started to feel a bit comfortable. As she grew up, she started to recoil from her parent's over-protectiveness. Yumei felt the need to stand up for herself and start her life of her own.

Yumei moved in an apartment near her school and lives by the money her parents send her weekly. When she entered Miyagawa High, she promised to herself that she would change herself. She changed her attitude upon entering her first year in Miyagawa High. Yumei's disposition before  is the polar opposite of what she is right now. As much as possible, she tries to stay away from her family since she's been treated as the "baby" since she was bullied. Although she's acting a bit rebellious around them, she still cares for her family with all her heart.
